Liverpool, Manchester United and Crystal Palace are set to “test the waters” with a move for Watford star Ismaila Sarr, according to reports.

Sarr came through the ranks with French side Metz. He impressed for them during the 2016/17 season which earned him his €20m move to Rennes.

The Senegalese international spent two years with the Ligue 1 outfit. He made 77 appearances for them as he netted 18 and assisted a further 16.

Watford broke their club-record transfer fee to sign Sarr in August 2019 for around £30m. The 22-year-old was one of their shining lights last season as he was involved in 12 goals from his 30 outings in all competitions.

The London outfit were relegated down to the Championship at the end of the 2019/20 campaign. It was expected that Sarr would depart in the summer, but he started the season still a Watford player.

Sarr has four goals and five assists from his 17 Championship appearances this season. It looks like interest in the player is going to carry over into the winter window.

The Athletic have reported that Liverpool, Manchester United and Crystal Palace are all keen to sign him. The report adds that all three clubs are willing to “test the waters” with a move for Sarr.

It is believed that Watford would prefer to keep hold of their man as they look to earn promotion back to the Premier League. But if the right offer comes in for him, they will be willing to sell.

Watford will reportedly demand an offer between £40m and £50m if they are going to sell Sarr.
