Liverpool midfield target green lights exit with ‘formal bid expected’ after ‘significant development’

According to reports, Liverpool are ‘in negotiations’ with Bayern Munich over Ryan Gravenberch and the player ‘favours a move’ to Anfield.
Liverpool have endured a difficult summer as they have missed out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia but they have spent over £100m to bring in Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo.
The Premier League giants remain in the market for one more midfielder as they attempt to fill the significant void left by this summer’s departees (including Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and James Milner).
Gravenberch has been heavily linked with Liverpool this summer after he struggled during his debut season for Bayern Munich during the 2022/23 campaign.
It was reported on Wednesday afternoon by The Daily Mail that ‘Gravenberch hopes a transfer to Liverpool or Man United will go through before Friday’s deadline and Thomas Tuchel has turned to Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha to replace him’.
But The Athletic’s David Ornstein revealed on Wednesday evening that Gravenberch ‘favours’ Liverpool and they are ‘in negotiations with Bayern Munich to sign him on a permanent deal’.

Ornstein has indicated that the Gravenberch situation ‘developed significantly on Wednesday’. He adds.
‘While a deal is not yet close and there is no guarantee it will happen, both clubs are discussing their respective valuations.
‘If Liverpool believe the finances are achievable, they are expected to submit a formal offer for the 21-year-old Netherlands international shortly.
‘Gravenberch is believed to favour a move to Liverpool over his other potential suitors, which has included Manchester United but they are prioritising Sofyan Amrabat at present.
‘Bayern are willing to listen to offers for Gravenberch, however any potential sale is contingent on them recruiting a replacement.’
This report has been backed up by Sky Sports, who state that Liverpool are ‘in negotiations with Bayern over Gravenberch’.
Reporter Melissa Reddy added: “As revealed by Sky Sports News, the midfielder was on Jurgen Klopp’s midfield shortlist last summer before he plumped for the Bundesliga giants over a switch to Anfield.
“Sky Sports News also revealed in April that Gravenberch was enthused by the opportunity to steer his development back on track at Liverpool.”
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has since stated: Liverpool have approached Bayern for Ryan Gravenberch today.
“Contacts between Gravenberch’s camp and #LFC reported 10 days ago — he’s open to joining Liverpool. No formal bid as the deal depends on Bayern: no decision yet on Gravenberch.”
