Liverpool ‘move soon’ for Algerian, Chelsea ‘danger’ for defender with Milan set to make €85m on duo

AC Milan could raise as much as €85m from selling Ismael Bennacer and Pierre Kalulu to Liverpool and Chelsea respectively, according to reports.
Liverpool have brought in Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsey this summer, while Chelsea have signed Kalidou Koulibaly, Raheem Sterling, Carney Chukwuemeka, Gabriel Slonina and Marc Cucurella.
The Blues are definitely in the market for more players this summer while Jurgen Klopp has insisted the Reds won’t sign any more players in this window.
Stop pretending Manchester City and Liverpool have been ‘inseparable’ since Guardiola
But Liverpool have been very reactive to opportunities in the market in the past with Luis Diaz moving to Anfield in the summer after Tottenham showed strong interest in the winger.
Fabrizio Romano is particularly convinced Liverpool could still do business, speaking last month he told Wondergoal Podcast: “Liverpool is super happy with the market they had with Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Ramsay, but I would always keep the market open for Liverpool.
“Because in January, trust me, they had no intention to sign any player. They were really relaxed and happy with their team.
“And then, they had the opportunity to sign Luis Diaz, because they saw many clubs jumping into it like Tottenham and West Ham. Jurgen Klopp decided in 24 hours, together with a board of course, to jump into it and sign Luis immediately.
“The markets sometimes are not just strategy, but also reaction and this is why Liverpool was very good with Luis Diaz and this is why I would keep the situation open for Liverpool till the end.
“But as of today, their plan is to focus on the new midfielder, and they want the top midfielder for next summer, the summer of 23.
“They wanted (Aurelien) Tchouameni this summer. He had some conversations with Jurgen Klopp. So Liverpool was really trying for Tchouameni, but then in the end he decided to join Real Madrid.
“I see Liverpool busy with conversations right now to sign a top midfielder next summer. So this is the idea and this is the strategy.
“And of course, they’re a big fan of Jude Bellingham. But I’m sure that there will be a crazy fight to sign Bellingham in the summer of 2023 Because it’s not available on the market this summer and Borussia Dortmund will keep him at the club.”
The plan still seems to be to wait for Bellingham next summer but Italian website Calciomercatoweb claims that Liverpool are set to ‘move soon’ for AC Milan midfielder Bennacer.
Milan can now turn their attention to repelling bids for the Algerian and Kalulu after they completed the signing of Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge.
Klopp is ‘intending to add quality and geometry to his already very strong midfield’ by attempting to sign Bennacer, who has two years left on his contract and a release clause of €50m.
The report adds that Liverpool ‘could offer just under €40m’ while it is Chelsea who represent the ‘danger’ when it comes to Milan’s hopes of holding onto defender Kalulu.
Chelsea have hit a number of obstacles in the hunt for another new centre-back this term after losing both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers to La Liga.
And the Blues are now ready to put €45m ‘on the plate’ for Kalulu – who can play at right-back and centre-back – which would give Milan €85m for the pair on acceptance.
