Liverpool are ‘moving’ for Dusan Vlahovic after the striker turned down the latest contract offer from Fiorentina.

The £35m-rated Serbian has already scored six goals this season after netting 21 times last season.

A number of Premier League clubs have been linked with a move for Vlahovic despite Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso previously talking down a move away for the 21-year-old.

But Commisso all-but admitted in a recent statement that the club is now resigned to losing their star player.

He said: “As you know, Fiorentina made a very significant offer to the player. Our proposal would have made him the highest paid player in the history of the club.

“We also improved our offer on a number of occasions in order to accommodate the requests of both Dusan and his entourage. However, despite our efforts, those offers have not been accepted.

“During my time in Florence over the past few weeks, I have personally endeavoured to find a solution that would make both the player and the club happy, but I am disappointed to say that our efforts and attempts have not been rewarded.

“At this point, all that we can do is acknowledge the wishes of the player and his entourage and quickly identify feasible, appropriate solutions as we proceed with this exciting new season.”

Vlahovic’s current deal expires in the summer of 2023 and Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) claim that a transfer next summer now ‘very propable’ with Fiorentina unwilling to risk the chance of the striker losing on a free transfer.

The report adds that Juventus, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Liverpool are all said to be ‘moving’ for the transfer.

Jurgen Klopp is thought to want to freshen up his forward options with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane both 29 years old and Roberto Firmino 30.

Spurs were reportedly looking at Vlahovic as a potential replacement for Harry Kane in the summer, Arsenal have been linked with the striker with Alexandre Lacazette set for the Emirates exit, as have Manchester City, who continue their search for a goalscorer to replace Sergio Aguero.
