Perr Schuurs is attracting interest from the Premier League.

Liverpool are preparing a ‘new move’ for Torino centre-back Perr Schuurs in a bid to beat Crystal Palace to his signature.

Schuurs was first on Liverpool’s radar last summer and they attempted to persuade the Dutchman to join them before his £8m switch to Torino.

“Over the time, clubs of the calibre of Tottenham, Liverpool or PSG had moved to take the player,” according to Italian agent George Gardi, who worked as an intermediary between Ajax and Torino.

Schuurs’ displays in Serie A have strengthened Liverpool’s desire to sign the 23-year-old with Jurgen Klopp said to be a huge admirer.

A report on Tuesday revealed Crystal Palace were looking to beat the Reds to the punch.

DAZN journalist Orazio Accomando claimed the Eagles have put a four-year contract on the table for the Schuurs, who would join for a fee of €35m.

Accomando tweeted: ‘Perr #Schuurs one step away from farewell to #Torino . The #CrystalPalace presented a 35M offer to the grenade club and hopes to close in the next few hours for the Dutch centre-back. 4 year contract ready.

‘Perr Schuurs one step away to CrystalPalace. Crystal Palace has presented Turin with a 35M offer. 4-year contract ready.’

That news appears to have lit a fire under Liverpool, who are readying a ‘new move’ for Shuurs, according to Football Insider.

The Reds have ‘set their sights’ on the centre-back, who ‘would be interested’ in making the move to Anfield.

Another centre-back thought to be on Liverpool’s shortlist was Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven, but German outlet Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung have now explained why the Premier League side have decided against a move for the defender.

Liverpool interest has ‘cooled noticeably’ after a meeting between Klopp and new sporting driector Jorg Schmadtke.

It’s claimed the pair came to the conclusion the player is not ready to represent the Reds due to a lack of ‘physical robustness’.

It’s thought Palace star Marc Guehi remains on Liverpool’s radar, and should Palace be successful in their bid to land Schuurs, the door could be open for the England international to move to Anfield.
