Liverpool owners want £1billion to sell club after buyout talks
Liverpool’s owners Fenway Sports Group want £1billion if they are to sell the club, according to reports.
There were stories in the media all last week about Amanda Staveley acting on behalf of investors keen to purchase Newcastle United. Those stories began after Staveley was spotted at St. James’ Park to watch Newcastle play Liverpool.
However, according to the Sunday Mirror Staveley was actually present because of interest in a takeover of Liverpool.
The Mirror says that FSG have held preliminary buyout talks about selling the club, but have placed a huge price tag on any deal.
We are told that Staveley made soundings to the club about the possibility of a takeover last Sunday, and used the game on Sunday as a fact-finding mission.
Given that FSG bought Liverpool for £300m in 2010, that would represent a tidy little profit.
