Liverpool want Tchouameni

According to reports, Real Madrid are ‘willing’ to let Aurelien Tchouameni leave the club this summer and Liverpool are ready to snap him up.

Liverpool were in the race to sign the ex-Monaco standout prior to his move to Real Madrid last summer.

The Premier League giants are known to be major admirers of the France international, but he ended up joining Real Madrid for a potential total fee of €100m.

Tchouameni has impressed in fits and starts for the Spanish giants this season but he has been in and out of the team. He has only started 21 times in La Liga this term. With Jude Bellingham set to join him at Real Madrid this summer, the 23-year-old may fear that he could drop down the pecking order.

Spanish outlet Nacional are reporting that ‘Florentino Pérez would be thinking of getting rid’ of Tchouameni ‘for much less than he paid’ last summer and ‘Liverpool have entered the scene’.

Jurgen Klopp ‘hasn’t forgotten about him’ as the Liverpool head coach ‘believes he is one of the solutions to their midfield woes’.

The Reds are ‘ready to offer’ €60m (plus an extra €20m in add-ons) for the midfielder. Real Madrid ‘do not plan to sell’ but ‘an offer of this calibre’ would force them to consider ‘cashing out’. It is noted that Bellingham’s arrival would ensure Perez is ‘willing to accept Liverpool’s offer’.

The report points out that Eduardo Camavinga has moved ahead of Tchouameni in the pecking order of late. They later add.

‘Liverpool want to fish in turbulent waters. They are already preparing a big offer to convince Florentino Perez to sell and the player to agree to wear red. The future of Tchouameni is up in the air.’

Last month, Fabrizio Romano revealed Liverpool “were upset” last summer after Tchouameni decided to join Real Madrid and the journalist confirms “Klopp called the player multiple times” before he made his final decision.

Romano has also predicted that Tchouameni “is going to stay” at Real Madrid this summer.

“Liverpool really tried to sign Tchouameni, they were upset with that deal. Klopp called the player multiple times, but the player joined Real Madrid,” Romano said.

“This summer I don’t see Madrid changing a lot in midfield. They have Kroos who signed a contract, Modric will discuss an extension too.

“I think Tchouameni is going to stay, and for Liverpool there will be other targets. Liverpool still love Tchouameni, but they know he is unavailable.”
