Jurgen Klopp could be key to Federico Chiesa joining Liverpool from Juventus this summer.

Liverpool are among five clubs interested in Federico Chiesa, who is available at the right price and would very much like to join Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

Chiesa joined Juventus for around €60m in the summer of 2022 after an initial loan spell with the Old Lady, and was the subject of £100m interest following his starring role for Italy at Euro 2020.

Juventus haven’t put the 25-year-old up for sale but Gazzetto dello Sport claim they would be willing to listen to big enough offers having missed out on €80m that comes with qualifying for the Champions League.

They’ve therefore set his price tag at €60m according to the report, and Chiesa is open to an exit this summer.

That’s in no small part due to manager Massimiliano Allegri, with whom he ‘does not have a great feeling’, chiefly because of his tactics at Juventus.

There is no obvious place for Chiesa, who likes to operate on the wing, in Allegri’s preferred 3-5-2 formation, with the only suitable roles for him in that system as a second striker or wing-back.

There’s also doubt over his future due to talks over a contract renewal coming to a ‘standstill’.

The report claims it’s ‘not a priority’ for Juventus, and with his contract expiring in 2025 the Serie A giants are wary of the risk of losing him for nothing, and may look to cash in now while his stock is still high.

Newcastle have been linked having secured the signing of Sandro Tonali from Serie A rivals Milan and Aston Villa have also reportedly thrown their hat in the ring.

It’s claimed they’re both willing to offer €50m for Chiesa while Liverpool could only stretch to €40m, but Anfield would be the winger’s preferred landing spot.

Partly because he would be played on the wing in Klopp’s 4-3-3 system but also because he ‘values’ the German manager very much and has also been ‘charmed by the historic club’.

The report adds that the Premier League trip vying for Chiesa should be war of interest from Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
