Liverpool ‘reassess targets’ after Fekir alternative’s injury

Liverpool have been forced to ‘reassess their list of targets’ for the summer after two setbacks in one week.

The Reds thought that they had identified the perfect replacement for Philippe Coutinho in Nabil Fekir, with a fee and personal terms agreed.

But the move was called off amid reported concerns over a serious historic knee injury suffered by Fekir, which required minimal surgery earlier this year.

Lyon announced that the proposed transfer was thereby cancelled, and Liverpool were forced to look elsewhere.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Manuel Lanzini of West Ham was considered a possible option going forward.

He suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in training for Argentina’s World Cup campaign however, providing another ‘blow’ to Liverpool.

Liverpool will now ‘reassess their list of targets’ after a ‘significant setback’ in Jurgen Klopp’s plans.

The German ‘felt Fekir was the ideal attacking midfield recruit’, and so will have to settle for less than perfect. Poor fella.
