Liverpool release statement on derby postponement fears

Liverpool have confirmed that the Merseyside derby against Everton on Sunday “is planned to go ahead”.

The Reds host Anfield on Sunday, but inclement weather in the Merseyside area have put the game at risk.

The Met Office have issued an amber weather warning and the city is expected to be hit with snow over the next 48 hours.

But Liverpool have assured fans that the game is still likely to go ahead, but to take precaution when travelling.

“Due to the inclement weather forecast on Sunday, Liverpool FC would like to remind supporters to take extra care when travelling to Anfield and encourage fans to plan their journey in advance,” read the statement no the club’s website.

“Supporters are encouraged to arrive at the stadium early and check the Merseytravel and Merseyrail websites for any updates before they travel.
