Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is “sorry to disappoint” Liverpool fans with the news that there isn’t “anything concrete” between the Reds and Kylian Mbappe.

Most Liverpool fans will have worked out already that the France international is out of their financial reach despite a FIFA agent claiming they are competing with Real Madrid for the Paris Saint-Germain forward.

FIFA agent Marco Kirdemir told Spanish publication Marca: “There will be news over the next week. We will have news from England and Germany. Liverpool is competing with Real Madrid and wants to pay a fortune for Mbappe, that fortune would be around 300 million (£258m).”

But Romano has not heard of any “concrete” proposals from Liverpool to Mbappe or PSG but he is clear that the French outfit have told the 24-year-old to “sign new deal or leave the club this summer”.

Romano wrote in his Caught Offside column: “Fifa agent Marco Kirdemir raised some eyebrows with his quotes to Marca, where he said: ‘Liverpool are competing with Real Madrid and want to pay a fortune for Mbappe.’

“Sorry to disappoint you, Liverpool fans, but I’m not aware of anything concrete between Liverpool and Mbappe at this stage. Nothing has changed for Mbappe, PSG have been very clear: sign new deal or leave the club this summer, this is PSG’s position for the last two weeks.

“On Real Madrid, however, things are very positive on a new deal for Eduardo Camavinga. He’s on holiday at the moment so there is no rush, but he wants to stay and Real Madrid are convinced he’s a big part of their future. A new deal will be done, for sure, but it’s not been done as of today.”

One player who could be leaving Liverpool this summer is Fabio Carvalho with the Reds likely to allow him to leave on loan.

Speaking before the last game of the Premier League season, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said: “I think there is a possibility that maybe Fabio will go on loan or whatever. We will see. The thing is, this was not Fabio’s best year of his career, clearly, in a very young career, but it might have been his most important.

“No player has impressed me more than Fabio, that’s the truth. Because this kind of very talented boy came here with big dreams and big expectations, it was OK in the beginning but didn’t work out in the end.

“His work ethic will give him a fantastic career. He trained while getting nothing. For players, there’s only one present you have each week: you line me up, if not that then take me in the squad. That’s my only chance to satisfy a player.

“If I don’t do that, it’s about how the player reacts – and his reactions, in a row, I never saw it before. Unbelievable. I’m not sure if he goes on loan or whatever, if we keep him, we will see.”

And now German publication Bild that Liverpool have rejected a proposal from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig to buy Carvalho with a loan deal now looking more likely.

From Leipzig’s point of view, the ‘hope’ is that they can get him ‘feeling so comfortable’ in their team that he won’t want to leave and they can push for a permanent deal next summer.

The report adds that the German outfit reckon they will be in a ‘better negotiating position’ in 12 months’ time.
