Romano confirms Liverpool medical today for £60m star with Reds still ‘in the market’ for £34m midfielder
Liverpool still want to sign Khephren Thuram this summer after closing in on the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig., according to reports.
The Athletic‘s David Ornstein broke the news on Wednesday that Liverpool were interested in Szoboszlai but admitted that a deal could prove to be difficult.
However, just a few days later and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that the Hungary international will undergo the first part of his medical today ahead of a €70m (£60m) move to Anfield.
Romano tweeted: “Understand Liverpool have scheduled first part of the medical tests for Dominik Szoboszlai today after €70m release clause triggered on Friday. #LFC Documents being checked while Szoboszlai will do all medical tests then be unveiled as new Liverpool player.”
Liverpool are understood to be looking for at least one or two more midfielders in the summer transfer window after losing James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on free transfers.
Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone, Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch and Nice’s Thuram have all been linked with the latter now the most likely to join.

Despite the imminent signing of Szoboszlai, transfer expert Ben Jacobs claims that Liverpool are still “in the market” for Thuram “as well”.
Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “He is on the radar of Liverpool and he’s a very talented young player as well. I still think they’re in the market in addition for Khephren Thuram as well.
“Whereas with Manu Kone, even though the player was discussed internally, I don’t think the pursuit there is as active anymore at this stage.”
Thuram has the same agent as Gravenberch and another Liverpool target, Micky van Ven, with the latter emerging as a possible centre-back target for Jurgen Klopp this summer,
And former Tottenham defender Alan Hutton reckons the shared representation could make some of Liverpool’s transfer business easier this summer.
“Signing players with the same agent makes Liverpool’s transfer business easier,” Hutton told Football Insider.
“The recruitment for Liverpool has been decent over the recent years and you can trust Klopp.
“He knows what he requires within his midfield so the three players are obviously good talents ,and if the agent has worked with the club before then that can definitely help to get a deal over the line.”
