Mo Salah’s agent has dismissed the possibility that the Liverpool forward could leave Anfield for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad this summer.

The Egypt international contributed 19 goals and 12 assists in 38 Premier League appearances last term as Liverpool finished fifth in the table.

And a report from Saudi outlet Al Riyadh on Sunday claimed that Salah were ready to offer £155m over two seasons to the Reds star with Al-Ittihad preparing a £60m bid.

But Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa has rejected any claims that Salah could leave Liverpool this summer after the 31-year-old committed to the Reds last summer.

He wrote on Twitter: “If we considered leaving LFC this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract last summer. Mohamed remains committed to LFC.”

Salah still has two years remaining on the contract he signed last summer and it looks unlikely he will join former Liverpool team-mate Fabinho at Al-Ittihad.

Jordan Henderson is another player who has left Liverpool this summer because of the riches on offer in Saudi Arabia and Jurgen Klopp has been forced to select a new captain.

Virgil van Dijk was named as the new skipper recently but former Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique thinks Andy Robertson or Alisson would’ve made a better choice.

Enrique told Grosvenor Sport: “I think it was unlikely that the next Liverpool captain would have been anyone other than Virgil van Dijk but if I was Jurgen Klopp I would have given it to either Andy Robertson or Alisson.

“He might not have wanted to give it to Alisson because he is the goalkeeper and you want it to be someone who is actually playing out on the pitch but I think he would deserve it.

“I don’t think Liverpool really have another Jordan Henderson, but I like Robertson a lot. Robertson is a good leader and he always gives everything.

“Last year put me in a lot of doubt about Van Dijk and I know he had some injuries but last year I didn’t see the Van Dijk that I expected so that’s why I would have put Robertson ahead of him, but Klopp has gone with Van Dijk as the captain.”

Enrique is predicting “another tough season” for Darwin Nunez after the Uruguay international failed to consistently hit the heights expected from him.

The former Liverpool defender added: “Darwin Nunez has had a good pre-season playing as a striker and on the left, but I don’t see him playing as the main number nine for Liverpool.

“I could only see him playing on the left because I think Diogo Jota will be the main number nine ahead of him, but hopefully he can prove me wrong. On the left side he is doing well and I don’t think he could be having a better pre-season but they have Luis Diaz there and he is one of their main players.

“I think it’s going to be another tough season for Nunez and it will be tough for him to play because they have a lot of options and someone like Cody Gakpo is better adapted to Jurgen Klopp’s style and so is Jota, then you have Luis Diaz on the left and Jota can also play there, so I’m still not sure with Nunez.

“I know he has had an amazing pre-season, and some Liverpool fans will call me crazy, but I still have my doubts about whether he will be a starter for Liverpool next season.”
