Liverpool are reportedly preparing to make an ‘€85m super offer’ to lure midfield target Nicolo Barella away from Serie A giants Inter Milan.

The Reds are going to be busy during this summer’s transfer window. A recent report claimed they are planning to make at least five signings.

It is fair to say that it is their priority to strengthen in midfield. They could sign as many as three players in that area of the pitch with Arthur Melo, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita all set to move elsewhere in the summer.

It has consistently been reported over the past year that Liverpool are hoping to win the race to sign Jude Bellingham. But the Premier League club have pulled out of the fight for the teenager as his price tag has skyrocketed amid his immense form for Dortmund and England this season.

Liverpool will instead look to use their budget to acquire several players and Barella is one midfielder they are regularly linked with.

The 26-year-old has been one of Inter Milan’s top performers over the past couple of years. He has grabbed eight goals and eight assists in 42 outings across all competitions this season and he has helped the Italian outfit to qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Barella scored in Inter’s quarter-final second leg against Benfica. Speaking post-match, Jamie Carragher joked that there will now be an “extra £10m” added onto his price tag.

“[Barella] was fantastic. There’s actually talk of him being linked to my club called Liverpool for next season. So, that’s an extra £10m we may have to pay on top of the price tag if it does happen.”

Sport Mediaset (via Sport Witness) are reporting that Liverpool are ‘betting strongly’ on Barella ahead of this summer. They claim the Reds ‘intend to make a super offer of around €85m’ to convince the Serie A side to sell’.

Liverpool may be made to look at other targets, though. The report adds that Barella has ‘no intention’ and a move to the Premier League outfit ‘does not appeal’ to him ‘at all’.

Jurgen Klopp’s side may also look to sign a new centre-back this summer and they are now being linked with Torino’s Perr Schuurs.

Arsenal were reportedly looking at him last year but he has now caught the attention of Liverpool and Newcastle, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.

Torino paid €9m to sign Schuurs from Ajax last summer and his ‘market value has already at least doubled’.

Schuurs’ list of admirers ‘is increasing’. Liverpool are fans of his but they face ‘insistent pressure’ from Newcastle United.

The Magpies are ‘evaluating an offer’ for the Dutch defender. It is claimed that Newcastle’s Sven Botman and Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk could help their respective club’s hopes of signing the 23-year-old.
