Liverpool star Sadio Mane reportedly fears that a ‘huge’ combination could mean the club’s owners Fenway Sports Group ‘want him out’ of the club.

The 30-year-old – who led Senegal to the Africa Cup of Nations last month – is yet to agree an extension to his current deal at Anfield, which expires in the summer of 2023.

There have been rumours that Liverpool could be looking to offload one or more of their infamous front three, with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah also at similar stages of their careers.

And Football Insider report that ‘Mane had hoped to have secured his future by now’ with his performances this season worthy of a new ‘big-money deal’.

But the ‘huge’ combination of silence from FSG and the £50m January signing of Luis Diaz – who has already hit the ground running under Jurgen Klopp – has put the frighteners on Mane.

He now fears FSG ‘want him out’ as they want to take their last realistic chance of securing a significant fee for the forward this summer.

Mane has 13 goals and two assists from 32 appearances in all competitions this season and has been a stalwart under Klopp since joining the Reds in the summer of 2016, finishing fourth in the Ballon d’Or in 2019.

Ian Wright believes Mane could leave the club following the arrival of Diaz.

“I don’t think they are going to be fine. You look at Mane. Firmino as well. If you want to keep it going, the way that Firmino plays, you would like to think that it can last a couple more years. It’s not like he’s blasting around the place running out of pace.

“So, you might even think that Mane might be the one who may leave simply because that’s the side Luis Diaz is playing. That’s the side Mane plays.

“You also look at who they would have to get to play like Firmino. Out of the two of them, you could keep Firmino because he plays like that. Diaz might be able to come in and do what Mane’s doing, although, it’s going to be a lot to ask for him.”
