Liverpool ‘still in talks’ with Borussia Dortmund-bound striker

Liverpool should not be ruled out of the race to sign RB Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi, according to reports.

The young German is widely expected to join German giants Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.

After spending time at Bayern Munich as an academy player, Adeyemi signed for Salzburg in 2018.

He has scored 30 in 88 for the Austrian side and has been in particularly good form this term, netting 20 times in 38 appearances across all competitions.

Despite his move to Dortmund seeming inevitable, Sky Sports Germany (via Sport Witness) claim that Liverpool are ‘still in talks’ with the 20-year-old.

The player and the German club have ‘reached an agreement in principle’, however, talks ‘are not progressing’.

Adeyemi will reportedly cost €35m and sign a five-year deal, with both parties currently ‘at odds’ over clauses and bonus payments.

The deal is in danger of ‘collapsing’, meaning Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool or RB Leipzig will try to swoop in and sign the German.

The Reds are also linked with Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby.

West Ham, Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle have all been linked with Diaby, who is under contract at Bayer until 2025.

The Frenchman has been excellent for Leverkusen this season. He has scored 16 and provided 11 assists in 37 appearances in 2021/22.

Speaking about Diaby, Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong recently said: “He’s an amazing player – it’s really hard to play against him. He’s fast, he can dribble, he can finish, he can run behind defenders.

“Moussa is a really, really positive guy – he brings a lot to the team.”

The 22-year-old is valued at £49.5m, as per Transfermarkt.

He came through the youth ranks at PSG and made 34 appearances for their first team before signing for Leverkusen for a reported £13.5m transfer fee.
