Liverpool striker move off amid fitness concerns

Crystal Palace have pulled out of a proposed loan move for Dominic Solanke ‘because of concerns over his fitness’, according to the BBC.
The England international striker has not made a single appearance for Liverpool this season and was set to join Palace on loan for the rest of the campaign, though late interest from Schalke has been reported in Germany.
Solanke has been recently ruled out of several matches with a muscle problem and it is thought that he lacks the necessary fitness to immediately solve Palace’s substantial striker problems.
Palace boss Roy Hodgson had said at the weekend: “What would he do for us? Well, he’d provide the attacking threat that a good centre-forward should provide. He’s very much a proven goalscorer through all the age groups at Chelsea and with England.
“If he comes here he’ll have a great opportunity to show he can transfer that to Premier League football. We have someone who is the profile we’re looking for and has the ability we’re looking for which, once again today, I thought we were lacking.”
Palace will now go back to the drawing board in their quest to find a new striker.
