Liverpool told long-term target ‘is open’ to Premier League move which could prompt transfer U-turn
Liverpool have been told that long-term target Ryan Gravenberch would be open to a move this summer as the Reds ponder their next move.
Having missed out on Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo, Liverpool are expanding their search for a new holding midfielder.
Plenty of names are currently being mentioned with the likes of Matheus Nunes, Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone all being considered at this point.
Given the lack of options Jurgen Klopp has in this position right now, Liverpool should see it as a priority to get someone through the door before the end of the transfer window.
Liverpool had reportedly dropped their interest in Gravenberch earlier in the window to focus on other targets, but they could now resurface their interest.
According to Ben Jacobs, the player would be open to a move but Liverpool would need to convince Bayern Munich to sell.
“I expect Liverpool to be busy between now and when the window shuts,” Jacobs told Caught Offside. “Real Madrid don’t want to sell Aurelien Tchouameni, and the player doesn’t want to leave, so I don’t see too much substance in those links.
“Andre is another possibility at Fluminense, but the Brazilian club have always hoped to keep hold of him until 2024.
“Ryan Gravenberch at Bayern is a long-standing target as well. The player is open to the move. It’s just a case of whether Bayern will sell.”
The Dutch midfielder joined Bayern Munich last summer but endured a tough debut season in Germany.
He only played 561 minutes of league football and the vast majority of his appearance came from the bench.
Earlier in the window, Christian Falk claimed that Bayern wanted to assess Gravenberch in training before making a final decision on whether or not to sell him.
“Bayern Munich previously told Ryan Gravenberch’s management that he has to stay but that was before Hasan Salihamidzic was fired,” Falk explained.
“Now they are open to talks about Gravenberch, whereas before it was clear that they weren’t, but they want to see him back in training with Konrad Laimer and how everything works.”
Gravenberch would be a solid addition to Klopp’s side, but time will tell if they decide to make an official move for the 21-year-old.
