Liverpool ‘unlikely’ to sign Italy winger this summer
A Liverpool move for Italy star Federico Chiesa is unlikely this summer, according to reports.
The 23-year-old scored two goals at Euro 2020 as Roberto Mancini’s men achieved greatness.
He is currently contracted with Fiorentina but is expected to join Juventus next year at the end of his loan spell.
Summer? Pre-season? There is proper football out there…
Chiesa has been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks, alongside Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester City.
But Sky Sports say that Chiesa won’t be moving to Anfield in the next few months as the Reds consider him to be too expensive.
He will cost upwards of £90million due to his impressive season in Serie A and great form at the Euros.
Juventus are desperate to keep the winger in Italy and will do all they can to sign him from Fiorentina in 12 months’ time.
The report claims that Liverpool won’t be too active in the summer transfer window.
They consider there to be a lack of options available, potentially as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and skyrocketing prices.
Jurgen Klopp seems to be happy with his current crop of players.
Defenders Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are on their way back to full match fitness, which will be a huge boost for everyone at the club.
They will be joined in the upcoming campaign by Ibrahima Konate.
The 22-year-old signed from RB Leipzig in May after Liverpool activated his £36m release clause.
The club look set to focus on new contracts for important players and potential departures.
Jordan Henderson has been the subject of plenty of transfer rumours recently.
Reports have suggested that talks between the two parties have progressed in an ‘unsatisfactory’ fashion.
Neither club nor player wants a repeat of the Gini Wijnaldum situation, which saw the talented Dutchman leave for Paris Saint-Germain on a free.
It’s also believed that star player Mo Salah will be offered a new deal in the coming months.
His current terms run until June 2023 and are worth around £200,000 a week.
The Egpytian will be looking for a pay rise to reflect his integral squad status.
In terms of outgoings, Xherdan Shaqiri could leave to join Lazio this summer.
Liverpool have handed him a £13m price tag following his impressive displays at the Euros.
