Liverpool target Jude Bellingham shouts at his team-mates

Liverpool are ‘very interested’ in a move for England international Jude Bellingham despite his wage demands being a ‘potential stumbling block’.

Bellingham has emerged as one of Europe’s top talents following his £22m move to Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham in the summer of 2020.

He’s now a key part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad and has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League.

Dortmund will reportedly retain his services for another season as they don’t want to lose another one of their star players in the same window after Erling Haaland moved to Manchester City.

But James Pearce of The Athletic has confirmed that Liverpool are ‘very interested’ in the 19-year-old, whose price tag has been set at £103m.

Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United are also in the race with Bellingham expected to leave next summer, despite currently having three years remaining on his BVB deal.

Pearce added:

‘Liverpool will certainly be in the conversation and it helps that Bellingham has a good relationship with captain Jordan Henderson from their time together with England.

‘I don’t think that fee would scare Liverpool off as you’re talking about a player who could be at the heart of their midfield for a decade. However, the wage demands could be a potential stumbling block.’

Meanwhile, Fabio Carvalho, who joined Liverpool from Fulham this summer, says he didn’t “need any persuasion” to make the switch to Anfield.

“It’s just an amazing feeling to be here at one of the biggest clubs in the world, if not the biggest. So, I’m just happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started,” he said.

“Once you hear that Liverpool are interested, there’s only one thought in your mind, which is to join them and try to be in and around the team. Hopefully I can achieve big things.

“I spoke with everyone, and the manager, and it just felt so natural. When things become natural it’s just so much easier to make a decision.

“I don’t think you really need any persuasion to become a Liverpool player because of how big the club is.”
