Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes are over after Pele backed them to end their 29-year wait to win a top-flight crown.
Pele outlined his support for the Reds on Monday in tribute to Sir Kenny Dalglish, who was celebrating his birthday.
But the Brazil legend has inadvertently ruined any chance Liverpool had of beating Manchester City to win the Premier League this season by backing them to do precisely that.
The Reds will therefore join Nii Lamptey, the pre-2000 African World Cup winners, 1994 world champions Colombia, 1998 world champions Spain and Nicky Barmby on the Pele scrapheap.
He’s as good as predictions as he is at scoring 1,000 career goals basically. So sh*te
‘Happy birthday to Liverpool hero, Kenny Dalglish,’ he tweeted.
‘I backed @LFC to win the Premier League from the start. I still think they will do it.’
