Arsenal defender David Luiz has said that the Gunners can match Manchester City and Liverpool in the race for the Premier League title.
Liverpool and City dominated the English top flight last term by finishing on 97 and 98 points, respectively, ending up with at least 25 points more than nearest challengers Chelsea and 27 more than the Gunners in fifth.
Unai Emery‘s side have started this campaign in decent fashion, picking up 15 points from their opening eight games including four wins.
And despite Liverpool already being nine points clear and yet to drop a point, Luiz told NBC Sports that his side will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.
“For me, if you start something, and we’ve just started the Premier League and all of the competitions, if you don’t think you can win the competition then you won’t start anything in your life,” the Brazilian said.
“I want to win titles with Arsenal. I want to improve and adapt myself for the style of Arsenal, as a club and how the manager wants us to play. I think we can do that together.
“My vision, my ambition and my will is always to fight for the title and between the club, the players and the coach, we have the possibility to fight for the title. I think this club deserves to shine again.”
Arsenal return to Premier League action on Monday evening when they play Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
