Maguire hits back at Daily Mirror over Man Utd ‘power struggle’
Man Utd defender Harry Maguire has claimed the latest story of unrest in the Red Devils dressing room is untrue.
The Red Devils are in the midst of a disappointing season, with a top-four finish the best they can hope for in the Premier League.
Maguire has been below par and it has been reported by the Daily Mirror that the Man Utd skipper has felt undermined by Cristiano Ronaldo’s influence, with his continued role as captain questioned.
Bruno and Ronaldo are the gems in the Man Utd turd…
The Daily Mirror insisted that ‘Ralf Rangnick faces fresh crisis’ with Maguire and Ronaldo ’embroiled in a power struggle over the Manchester United captaincy’.
It is claimed that Rangnick is considering stepping Maguire down from the captaincy in an effort to ‘take the pressure off him’ following his recent poor form.
Maguire is said to ‘feel increasingly undermined by the 37-year-old superstar’s huge influence within the dressing room’ and thinks ‘some of the players are losing respect for him’.
There is apparently a ‘growing’ feeling within the club that ‘it is inevitable Ronaldo will replace Maguire’ but the England international has rubbished the rumour.
Marcus Rashford dismissed talk of a dressing room divide involving Ronaldo earlier this week and Maguire has denied the latest reports.
I’ve seen a lot of reports about this club that aren’t true and this is another. Not going to start posting about everything that is written but I needed to make this one clear. We’re united and focused on Sunday. Enjoy your day everyone 💪🏻 @ManUtd https://t.co/YxLhQn8pqf

“I’ve seen a lot of reports about this club that aren’t true and this is another,” he posted ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match at Leeds United.
“Not going to start posting about everything that is written but I needed to make this one clear. We’re united and focused on Sunday. Enjoy your day everyone.”
Meanwhile, Ronaldo earned praise from Rangnick in midweek after his exceptional finish against Brighton gave Man Utd the foundations to build on.
“That was an amazing goal,” Rangnick told reporters. “Not only an important one but an amazing goal. I think overall it was a good performance by Cristiano.
“Energetically, he was on there, he was always trying to help the team-mates so I think in the last weeks definitely the best performance by him and a very, very important goal for us.”
