Arsenal transfer target Malcom has apologised after Bordeaux threatened to punish him for publishing a controversial video.
Malcom has been linked with a move to Arsenal this month, although Arsene Wenger explained that the chances of a transfer were slim on Thursday.
Malcom attracted criticism from Bordeaux fans when he, along with teammates Cafu and Otavio, published a video of themselves smiling and jovially engaging with fans after a 2-0 defeat to Caen.
The attitude of the three Brazilians was called into question, and Bordeaux announced that they had begun disciplinary proceedings against the players.
Malcom posted a message on Instagram, which has since been deleted, where he apologised to “all those who felt insulted and offended”.
The Brazilian explained that he and his teammates posted the video simply “to send news to those close to us and show the winter weather in Bordeaux. That’s why we were smiling.
“When we understood the effect it had provoked, we immediately took it down,” he added.
“We had no intention of disrespecting the club or the supporters, but simply to send a message to our family and friends in Brazil.”
