Man City agree to pay Rodri’s release clause – reports

Manchester City are reportedly closing on the signing of Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri.

Pep Guardiola has identified the Spaniard as his preferred long-term replacement for Fernandinho and City are set to deliver the manager’s primary target of the summer.

Sky Sports is reporting that City have informed Atletico that they will be paying the £62.5million required to exercise Rodri’s release clause.

The deal is just down to the 22-year-old agreeing personal terms with the Premier League champions, though Marca claims the player has already told Atletico of his desire to join up with Guardiola.

Rodri has won seven caps for Spain and made 47 appearances in La Liga last season scoring three times. Not good enough for United, though…
