Man City and Newcastle United reportedly have ‘real interest’ in Napoli standout Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is having a remarkable season in Serie A.

Kvaratskhelia has been one of the major breakout stars in world football this season. He joined Napoli for around £10m from Georgian side Dinamo Batumi during last summer’s transfer window.

The 22-year-old has surpassed all expectations this term as he has grabbed 12 goals and 15 assists in 27 outings across all competitions. Along with Victor Osimhen, he has been key as Napoli have moved clear at the top of Serie A.

The left winger is naturally being heavily linked with a move to the Premier League. Given his incredible recent form, it comes as no surprise that Napoli are not overly keen to let him leave.

He is under contract until 2027 and Graeme Bailey has told TEAMtalk that Napoli are “looking at an enormous £150m price tag for Kvaratskhelia at this point”.

Bailey adds that Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are “looking at him” while Man City and Newcastle are showing the “greatest interest” out of teams in the Premier League.

“Napoli firmly believe that in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia they currently possess the best player in world football and it is no surprise that the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona are looking at him,” Bailey told TEAMtalk.

“However, there is some real interest in the Premier League and the two who’ve shown the greatest interest at this point are Manchester City and Newcastle United.

“Both have been keeping firm tabs on the Georgian and they like him a lot. However, Napoli would be looking at an enormous £150m price tag for Kvaratskhelia at this point.

“Both could conceivably afford to pay that colossal sum as two of the wealthiest clubs in the world, but a deal this summer looks highly unlikely.

“Instead, Napoli firmly believe a new and improved contract extension is likely.”

Speaking last month, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano warned clubs interested in Kvaratskhelia that Napoli currently “don’t want to open negotiations” over a mega summer transfer.

“He’s doing fantastic with Napoli. So congrats again to Napoli because Kvaratskhelia, in Serie A and Champions League, is always performing at a super level,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

“Fantastic, fantastic player. What’s the point?

“I always see many rumours and many of you asking me about Kvaratskhelia and Man United, Kvaratskhelia and Chelsea, Kvaratskhelia and Real Madrid and many others.

“But guys at the moment, and trust me it’s not usual to say something like that, Napoli don’t want to open negotiation or to speak to any club or any agent.“
