Premier League side Man City have made an offer of £100m for Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, according to reports.

Grealish had another brilliant season for Villa last term, contributing six goals and ten assists as Dean Smith’s side finished 11th in the Premier League.

There have been many conflicting reports over the last month over whether City’s interest in Grealish had developed into an official bid or not.

A report this week said that City are understood to be confident of negotiating Villa down from their £100m asking price as the two Premier League clubs continue talks.

But now John Percy in the Daily Telegraph has confirmed that Man City have now ‘made a £100million offer’ for Grealish.

He adds that they have ‘finally tabled a huge bid for the England international which they hope will persuade Aston Villa to agree a deal’.

The Villa playmaker has been ‘one of Guardiola’s priority signings this summer’ and has ’emerged as their No. 1 target’ after receiving little encouragement in their pursuit of Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Man City ‘are hopeful of striking an agreement over the next few days’ despite Villa’s offer of a new contract on the table for Grealish to consider.

Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand thinks City are the most likely destination for Grealish after ruling out Man Utd from making a late move for the 25-year-old.

“I would love him to join Manchester United, obviously. But I just feel that the position that he plays is stacked,” Ferdinand told the FIVE YouTube channel.

“Bruno [Fernandes] in a ten, [Marcus] Rashford’s on the left, [Anthony] Martial is there, [Paul] Pogba is there. It kind of rules Manchester United out unless they say, ‘no, we’re going to shift a player or two to get him’. That’s the big decision they have to make.

“There aren’t many breathtaking footballers around anymore who produce breathtaking moments and make you go, ‘wow that was crazy’. Jack Grealish does that. He’s just a phenomenal player.

“If he’s going to go anywhere, I think it will be Man City. He would add to that team.

“Jack Grealish is driven, he’s been loyal, the fact he stayed at Villa last season is enough for them to clap him out of the stadium. He’s paid his dues and done great things, helped get them up and kept them in the Premier League.”
