Bayern Munich are stepping up their pursuit of Manchester City defender Kyle Walker as the German club are willing to offer a player of their own in exchange.

Walker has spent the last six seasons at Man City and the rapid full-back has been integral to their success in that time.

However, with Walker seemingly open to a fresh challenge, the 33-year-old is said to be keen on a switch to Bayern this summer.

The latest reports have claimed that Walker has ‘said yes’ to Bayern as Pep Guardiola considers what to do with the full-back.

According to Christian Falk, Bayern would be willing to offer Benjamin Pavard as part of the deal to secure Walker’s signature.

“Bayern Munich are yet to get an offer for Benjamin Pavard but what we’ve heard from the player’s side is that he would be interested in a move to Manchester City,” Falk told CaughtOffside.

“One important thing for him is to play as a defender and not a right-back. If Pep Guardiola is playing with three in a row at the back, that would also work fine for him. So this could be the next step when they get into talks.

“Bayern want to sell him, they would talk about the scenario of a swap deal for Kyle Walker.”

Pavard would be a younger alternative to Walker as the Bayern defender is six years younger than the Man City star.

The likes of Liverpool and Man Utd have also been linked with a move for Pavard this summer as the versatile defender would tick plenty of boxes for both sides.

Pavard is capable of playing as a right-back or centre-half and with his contract set to expire in 2024, the German club are keen to cash in.

While Walker himself seems keen on a move to Bayern, Alan Hutton has warned the 33-year-old that the “grass is not always greener.”

“I think it would be a massive decision to leave a team that is so strong at this moment in time, after everything they did last season,” Hutton told Football Insider.

“That being said, Pep likes to tinker. He changes his tactics, he changes his formation, personnel, it must be difficult unless you are one of the main players.”

“I think he is a little bit lucky where he can play centre-back, wing-back, so he is versatile. But the grass is not always greener.”
