Man United ‘believe’ target Maguire is bound for Man City

Manchester United are interested in Harry Maguire but ‘believe’ he wants to join Manchester City instead.

Maguire has long been linked with a move to United, an interest dating as far back as Jose Mourinho’s tenure.

It feels as though the Leicester centre-half could be priced out of any move, however, as the Foxes are likely to demand a world-record fee to let him go.

The £75m Liverpool parted with to sign Virgil van Dijk in January 2018 remains the most ever paid for a defender, and Leicester feel Maguire’s age (26) and length of contract (four years) could see his value exceed even that.

The Daily Mail say that United have enquired as to his availability, but ‘believe the England international wants to join’ City.

The Premier League champions are eager to sign two centre-halves this summer, with Nicolas Otamendi potentially following Vincent Kompany out of the club.
