Manchester United are ‘focused’ on signing Mario Mandzukic in a deal that could be completed by Monday.
United have identified Paulo Dybala as their main attacking transfer target this summer – although quite why Juventus are contemplating it is a mystery.
The club is also locked in negotiations over Harry Maguire, but they have been linked with a move for a teammate of Dybala’s.
Tuttosport suggest that United mooted the possibility of signing Mandzukic during talks between their representatives and Juventus director Fabio Paratici concerning Dybala and Romelu Lukaku.
It is said that ‘the name of Mandzukic also came up’ as the two parties looked to thrash out a deal over Dybala and Lukaku, and that the move ‘could close by Monday’.
United were turned down by the forward when they first contacted him ‘in the spring’, but the departure of Massimiliano Allegri as manager has ‘radically changed’ the situation.
It is thought that a fee of around £13.7m would suffice.
