Man United dealt ‘remarkable’ blow in chase for £60m defender

Crystal Palace have stunned Manchester United by valuing Aaron Wan-Bissaka at a ‘remarkable’ £60million.

Wan-Bissaka has emerged as one of United’s key transfer targets this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans to reshape his squad.

United have been linked with both the Palace right-back and his teammate Patrick van Aanholt as they embark on one of the biggest transfer windows in their history.

But the Daily Mail say Palace ‘are determined’ to keep at least one of Wan-Bissaka and Wilfried Zaha, who has reportedly asked to leave.

Palace have therefore ‘placed a remarkable £60m price tag’ on the former, safe in the knowledge that ‘is way above what United would be prepared to pay’.

Ed Woodward has vowed ‘not to dramatically overspend on new recruits in either transfer fees or salary’ after the Alexis Sanchez debacle, so such a high valuation is likely to end United’s pursuit.

It’s almost as if Wan-Bissaka has three years remaining on his Selhurst Park contract and, at 21, is already one of the Premier League’s best full-backs. It’s not particularly ‘remarkable’ when you think about it.
