Pundits claim Man Utd need ‘disharmony’ PL boss would provide

Simon Jordan and Danny Murphy agree that Manchester United made a mistake in not going after Antonio Conte, as the Spurs boss would have caused much needed “disharmony” in the Red Devils squad.
Conte was thought to be on United’s radar to become their new manager, but while the club dallied over the future of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Spurs swooped for the Italian. Solskjaer was sacked just 19 days laters.

United instead opted for Ralf Rangnick as their interim boss and are currently looking for a permanent replacement in the summer.
Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag are thought to be the frontrunners, but Gary Neville has questioned whether they have the “personality” to cope with the pressure at Old Trafford.
Neville was also against his former club appointing Conte, claiming the ex-Chelsea boss wasn’t the right fit, but Jordan disagrees.
“He is a proven winner, I can’t understand Gary Neville’s logic,” Jordan said told talkSPORT.
“I agree, I said the same reason in my column,” Danny Murphy added. “He’s exactly what they need.”
“The only reason why Conte left Chelsea and Inter Milan is because investment was being denied him,” former Palace chairman Jordan continued.
“Specifically Inter Milan where his best players were being sold.
“Any indication United aren’t going to spend £150million a year? Every year rain or shine [they do].
“So what would he have to leave United for? He’d be in there, and he could be in there for five years and he might need to disrupt it, and the argument ‘ oh it causes disharmony’.
“You know what that club needs? Some proper disharmony to liven a few people up and make them wake up and understand who they’re playing for.”
“They missed the boat,” Murphy added.
Meanwhile, United legend Paul Scholes has questioned the club’s decision to hire Rangnick.
He told Premier League Productions: “What do we expect? We’ve brought in an interim coach who hasn’t coached at an elite team.
“He hasn’t coached a big team, he hasn’t coached at a big football club like United where there’s so much expected of Manchester United. Whoever you’re playing against, it doesn’t matter. He’s never been at a top club. He’s coached a club for two years out of the last 10 years.
“How have United behind the scenes come to the conclusion that this man is going to be the right man for six or seven months? It baffles me. The players are lost on the football pitch.
“The first 20 minutes I was surprised they played really well, they were comfortable on the ball, [Paul] Pogba up front looked alright. His subs have worked the last few weeks don’t get me wrong but it was a deflated team.
“As much as you can have a go at United today, they’re playing against possibly one of the best teams we’ve seen. In the second half, the players looked lost. They looked like they didn’t have a clue what they were doing.”
