Man United ‘make contact’ with Pochettino (again)

Man United have reportedly ‘made contact’ with Mauricio Pochettino after the Red Devils lost 2-1 to Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Ole Gunner Solskjaer has come under increasing pressure with Man United currently sitting 15th in the Premier League tablewith their 1-0 loss to Arsenal on Sunday meaning they have lost three out of six Premier League matches this season.
Their impressive form in the Champions League had given Solskjaer and his side a much-needed break from the criticism but an unexpected 2-1 loss in Istanbul has only served to ramp up the pressure.

There was a report in the Daily Star on October 5 that the 6-1 humiliation against Tottenham had put his ‘troubled reign in jeopardy’.
It was said at the time that club chiefs are ‘demanding a serious improvement in results from Solskjaer’ and they ‘have sounded out Mauricio Pochettino about him replacing’ the former United striker.
The report even went as far as to claim that the Red Devils were ready to act and ‘pull the plug’ on Solskjaer.
And, following their defeat in Istanbul, the Manchester Evening News say that Man Utd have ‘approached’ Pochettino ‘with a view to him replacing’ Solskjaer.
The report adds that the club have ‘made contact’ with former Tottenham boss ‘amid the team’s dismal form under Solskjaer’.
Pochettino is said to want the role at Man Utd and told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football: “I am always ready to go again and be involved in the game. It’s not stress when you are working, it’s not stress going into the training round to prepare the match and to compete.
“I hope to go back soon so we can start again to work. I am looking forward to being back in the game. I love this game but it’s difficult, we are inside and working on doing things. That’s the reality.”
Meanwhile, Solskjaer spoke to the press about whether he had any fears for his job, he said: “I decline to comment on such a thing. Of course, it’s early on and opinions are out there all the time. You’ve got to stay strong.
“I’m employed by the club to do a job and I do that to the best of my ability with my staff.”
