Man United make huge progress on four of five key contracts

Manchester United have made a new contract for David de Gea their priority.

De Gea’s current deal at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season, but the club are almost certain to trigger an automatic one-year clause to keep him regardless.

They will continue negotiations in the meantime, hoping to persuade the Spaniard that he can realise his trophy-winning ambitions without having to leave.

‘There is no sense of panic’ around United with regards to De Gea’s future, but the London Evening Standard say the club ‘will need to convince him’ not to look elsewhere.

He is one of three players who United ‘are eager to tie down imminently’, the kinky bastards. In the cases of Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial, both ‘have been offered long-term extensions – both believed to be five years, with substantial pay rises – which United expect them to accept’.

What with this and Jose Mourinho insisting Juan Mata and Ander Herrera be given new deals, United seem to have finally realised most of their players are about to leave.
