Man United make less from Champions League than Europa

Manchester United received more prize and TV money from UEFA for winning the Europa League last season than reaching the last 16 of the Champions League.

United have emerged from their Champions League campaign – which ended when they f***ed it against Sevilla – with just £33.6m compared to the £38.5m they earned last season from the less-prestigious Europa League.

They were punished for their back-door entry into the Champions League as the first batch of TV money is allocated according to the clubs’ finishing positions in the Premier League.

That also explains why Liverpool have earned only marginally more than Chelsea despite reaching the semi-finals, though they could eventually earn £71.75m if they win the trophy.

The figures have been tweeted by the ever-excellent Swiss Ramble.
