Manchester United target Toby Alderweireld has said that he could still stay at Tottenham beyond this summer.
The Belgian centre-half is refusing to sign a new contract at Spurs and was very strongly linked with a move to United.
But reports on Tuesday suggested that Alderweireld’s ‘profile’ is a worry for United, with the Manchester Evening News claiming that ‘United scouts are not entirely convinced about Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld and are considering alternatives, according to a high-level source at the club’.
Alderweireld has been talking to the press ahead of Belgium’s World Cup campaign and was asked whether he could still stay at Tottenham.
“Yeah, why not? I have two years left on my contract. I don’t know what is going to happen,” he replied.
