The latest reports have claimed that Manchester United are looking for more than £20m to sell Scott McTominay this summer amid Premier League interest.

McTominay has only played a bit-part role under Erik ten Hag and is said to be keen on a move this summer.

The 26-year-old only started in 10 Premier League matches and struggled to dislodge the likes of Casemiro or Christian Eriksen from the starting 11.

According to the latest reports, Everton have now entered the race to sign McTominay, although they could be put off by his asking price.

Football Insider have reported that Man United are looking for ‘in excess of £20million’ for the Scottish midfielder.

The report recognises that at that price, it would be ‘very hard’ for Everton to strike a deal.

Due to the financial situation at Goodison Park, Everton aren’t expected to have too much money to play with this summer.

McTominay will assess his next options as Newcastle also remain interested in the holding midfielder.

Last month the Scottish midfielder reportedly ‘told his friends’ that he ‘wants to quit’ Man United this summer as he thinks a transfer will be ‘good for his career’.

At this stage of his career, he will want to play regular first-team football and that cannot be guaranteed at Old Trafford right now.

McTominay is under contract until 2025 but the club are willing to sanction his sale, for the right price.

Despite not being a regular starter under Ten Hag, McTominay has recently reaffirmed his love for the club.

“When you’re on your holidays, you need to relax and take it easy, but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. I’m someone who loves football and I love this club,” McTominay told club media.

“Whatever happens and however many minutes you play, I’m still going to train hard every single day and give my best for the team and always be there.

“Contribute with some goals every now and again, maybe when you come on, but I feel like, for myself, it’s keep your head down and keep working.”

With Man United likely to sign a midfielder or two themselves this summer, it makes sense that they are willing to listen to offers for McTominay.
