Wolves will only sell midfielder Ruben Neves in a deal worth over £40 million, according to reports.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in the Portuguese international as they look to solves their midfield problems.

United have struggled to find their first choice midfield set-up with the likes of Scott McTominay, Fred, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic all vying for position.

Arsenal are also thought to be looking at Neves as they look to improve their own midfield situation.

The Gunners have Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka as well as the Mohamed Elneny and Sambi Lokonga but have been forced to play Martin Odegaard in a deeper role for various reasons.

Partey and Elneny were away at the African Cup of Nations with Ghana and Egypt respectively whilst Xhaka received his latest red card in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

This has lead to numerous calls for Arsenal to bring in a new midfielder and it looked like Lyon star Bruno Guimaraes could be the man to fill the void. However, Newcastle look to have beaten them on the race for the Brazilian.

This has led Arsenal, alongside Man United, to move their interest to the Wolves star.

United thought a deal worth £35 million could be enough to secure his services but The Sun are now reporting that Bruno Lage’s side will only accept a deal worth at least £40 million.

The report adds that Neves is happy at Molineux and Wolves are confident that they can keep hold of the player until the summer with the January transfer deadline edging closer.

Elsewhere, Chelsea legend Petr Cech has praised Kepa Arrizabalaga for stepping up when number one Edouard Mendy went away to AFCON.

Cech told the official Chelsea website: “I must touch on Kepa, too.

“He had to fill those big boots while Edou has been away, and he has been brilliant in all those games under even more scrutiny than usual.

“You need a strong team and every person ready to help. The goalkeeping group work so hard together to make sure they are all ready for when the moment comes, so Kepa deserves credit too.”
