Jose Mourinho declined the opportunity to deny his interest in bringing Mesut Ozil to Manchester United.
Arsenal star Ozil will line up against Mourinho’s United on Saturday evening, but speculation persists over the Portuguese’s desire to be reunited with the Germany playmaker.
Ozil is out of contract at the end of the season and it seems unlikely that the former Real Madrid star will agree new terms to extend his stay at the Emirates.
Barcelona have been linked with a January swoop for Ozil, but United are also said to be extremely keen on signing the 29-year-old as a free agent.
Mourinho, Ozil’s manager at Real from 2010 to 2013, was asked on Friday if he would be interested in signing the German should he become a free agent next summer.
And he did not rule it out, simply saying: “No comment.”
