Man Utd legend Brian McClair has warned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that other clubs will be looking to recruit Scott McTominay “in the not too distant future”.

The 23-year-old has become an important cog in Solskjaer’s side as he looks to build a team capable of winning the Premier League title.

McTominay was out for a little while with injury recently but he has still managed 27 appearances in all competitions for Man Utd this term, but the Red Devils remain far behind Man City and Liverpool when it comes to a potential title surge next season.

“I think Scott McTominay, if he stays at Manchester United, will be a great player for Manchester United,” McClair told Superstar Speakers.

“It’s a similar thing to Darren Fletcher. He’s come through the youth system, he wants it, he’s a Manchester United fan, he’s determined.

“He’s overcome several situations with regards to growth spurts, injury and illness.

“I think he can be a Manchester United great.

“I hope that he remains at Manchester United for long enough for that to occur but it would not surprise me if there were other clubs looking to recruit him in the not too distant future.”
