Man Utd chief ‘flies to Italy’ as Red Devils scramble to complete deal as £25m offer is lodged
Fiorentina are pushing for a permanent deal for Sofyan Amrabat as Manchester United director of football negotiations Matt Hargreaves flies out to Italy, according to reports.
The Red Devils are going to be busy on transfer deadline day with the club already confirming the signing of Altay Beyindir from Fenerbahce earlier.
A deal for Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon is also understood to be close with The Athletic journalist David Ornstein claiming the Spaniard has ‘signed his Manchester United contract ahead of completing a season-long loan’.
There is expected to be an official announcement later today after Reguilon travelled to Manchester on Thursday evening to complete a medical at the club.
Man Utd had been in for Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella but it became ‘complicated’ and they turned to Tottenham’s Reguilon instead to plug their Luke Shaw-shaped hole at left-back.
And the Red Devils are still trying to get a deal for a midfielder over the line before the window shuts tonight with Fiorentina’s Amrabat understood to be their top target.

The Athletic‘s Ornstein insists that Man Utd chief Hargreaves is in Italy to try and sort an agreement between Fiorentina and the Red Devils as the Serie A side push for a permanent transfer.
Ornstein wrote:
“Manchester United’s director of football negotiations, Matt Hargreaves, has flown to Italy to try and complete a deal for Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat.
“We revealed on Wednesday that United had seen a €2million loan bid for the Morocco international turned down, and no agreement has yet been reached.
“Discussions continue over a deal for Amrabat, with the 27-year-old keen on a move to United.
“Fiorentina’s preference is for a permanent sale, while a loan with an obligation is also an option. They value the player at €35m.
“Hargreaves, a former executive at Adidas, was appointed to his role at United in March and began work this summer.”
However, Italian publication Calciomercato claims that Man Utd have now made an ‘official offer’ of €30m (£25m) plus bonuses for a permanent move.
They are ‘hot hours’ for the Italians, who are looking to sign Napoli’s Diego Demme before allowing Amrabat to leave, with Man Utd now keen on buying the Morocco international instead of a loan with an obligation to buy.
