Manchester United are closing in on their fourth summer signing as the club have agreed a deal to sign a new backup goalkeeper.

Erik ten Hag has already added the likes of Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund to his squad this summer and he is keen to add some more depth.

Man Utd haven’t looked especially convincing in their opening two performances as they limped over the line against Wolves and lost against Tottenham.

With the end of the transfer window fast approaching, Ten Hag will be keen to get as many deals done as possible between now and the end of the window.

Signing a new backup goalkeeper has been on the agenda all summer and it seems as if Man Utd have got their man.

According to Haber Turk, a deal for Altay Bayındır is edging closer after the player had successful medical tests in Greece yesterday.

The deal for the Fenerbahce goalkeeper is said to be worth around €7m and this could signal the end for Dean Henderson.

By signing Bayındır, this would then free up Henderson to be allowed to leave the club this summer in search of first team football.

According to Fabrizio Romano, there is now interest from Crystal Palace who are ahead of Nottingham Forest in the race to sign the goalkeeper.

“Crystal Palace are currently ahead of Nottingham Forest in the race to sign Dean Henderson,” Romano wrote on Twitter. “Negotiations continue on both club and player side.

“Henderson, still expected to leave Man Utd.”

Onana will be the undisputed number one goalkeeper this season, but a player like Bayındır should provide him with some healthy competition.

The 25-year-old Turkish goalkeeper has featured in 146 matches for Fenerbahce across his five years with the Turkish club.

Despite Man Utd making a slow start to the new campaign, Ten Hag will have been fairly impressed with what he has seen from Onana so far.

The goalkeeper has made 11 saves in his opening two Premier League matches which has only been bettered by Fulham shot-stopper Bernd Leno.
