Manchester United have taken ‘concrete steps’ to sign Adrien Rabiot from Juventus.

Rabiot is entering the final 12 months of his contract with the Old Lady, who deem him ‘expendable on the market’.

That’s according to Calciomercato (via Sport Witness), who claim his agents are ‘testing the waters’ ahead of a potential summer exit.

Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested, with his mother in a ‘constructive dialogue’ with the Ligue 1 side ahead of a possible ‘sensational return’ to the Parc des Princes.

Juventus have set a price tag of €15m for the midfielder who joined them on a free transfer in the summer of 2019.

That fee ‘is not a problem’ for United, who have reportedly taken ‘concrete steps’ to secure his transfer.

But the report does add that it ‘is not so simple’ to attract Rabiot to United.

United boss Erik ten Hag appears to see improving the midfield as a priority this summer, with the club heavily linked with Frenkie de Jong, among others.

Elsewhere, United are also struggling to lure Jurrien Timber to Old Trafford from Ajax.

It’s understood that Timber thinks it would be too much of a risk to move to Man Utd in a year where he needs to guaranteed football to play at the World Cup.

Man Utd want to add another centre-back to Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Phil Jones and it is claimed that Timber will go on holiday now and then make a final decision on his future when he returns.

Gary Neville revealed yesterday that he was worried about the lack of transfer activity at United with some of their Premier League rivals getting their business done early.

Neville tweeted: “I know early in the window but it’s worrying that United are struggling to get business done. The others seem set and ready yet United can’t get moving.

“ETH needs his group together ASAP to mould them. Bringing them in late will only make it harder for him! it happens soon!”
