Man Utd confirm attacker exit as Premier League club look to secure double deal
Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga has completed a move to Nottingham Forest after penning a five-year deal at the City Ground.
The 21-year-old featured in 26 matches across all competitions last season, with the majority of his minutes coming as a substitute.
Forest had been keen on a deal for Elanga for some time and they are continuing to push for Dean Henderson.
“It’s a pleasure to be here. It’s a proud moment, not only for me, but for my family as well,” Elanga told the Nottingham Forest club website.
“It’s the perfect next step for me in my career, it’s a big step and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the Forest fans at The City Ground.
“I had interest from elsewhere, but for me, Nottingham Forest feels like the perfect place. I’ve been here with United, and from the minute I stepped out for the warm-up, I could hear them from the changing room.
“It’s a special place, but being here with Forest, I feel like it will be even more special. I’m really ready for the challenge and I just want to embrace everything and get to work.”
A move for Elanga was probably best for all parties. At Nottingham Forest, he will be afforded more first team opportunities and he will get the chance to develop under a great coach in Steve Cooper.
Cooper has already proven himself to be an excellent coach with young players and Elanga certainly has plenty of untapped potential.
While Forest will be boosted by the signing of Elanga, they will be keen to agree a deal with Henderson as soon as possible.
The Man Utd goalkeeper spent last season on loan at the City Ground and he is keen on making the move permanent.
Following Andre Onana’s arrival at Old Trafford, that should open the door for Henderson to make the switch to Forest in the near future.
While the 26-year-old missed the second half of last season through injury, he largely impressed while on loan and a permanent move would probably be best for his career right now.
