Man Utd will attempt to bring Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani to Old Trafford when his contract expires in the summer, according to reports.

Manchester United scoured the transfer market in January as they looked to bring in a striker with the club finally settling on a loan deal for Shanghai Shenhua’s Odion Ighalo until the end of the season.

That is likely to only be a temporary fix and they will look to continue their pursuit of goals in the summer transfer window depending on when the Premier League restarts.

French newspaper L’Equipe (via Sport Witness) claims that a stay in Paris hasn’t been ruled out despite Cavani falling out with the PSG hierarchy over his blocked proposed January move to Atletico Madrid.

L’Equipe says that Man Utd are a ‘serious candidate’ for Cavani given their ‘significant financial means’ despite the coronavirus pandemic.

However, it’s thought PSG could opt to ditch their idea of signing Mauro Icardi on a permanent deal in the summer and instead decide to offer Cavani a new contract at the club.
