Man Utd are interested in signing Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to reports in Italy.
Former Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was reportedly keen to add another central midfielder in the summer, but was unable to bring one in.
They signed Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane instead, spending over £100million for the trio.
Despite their strong summer window, Man Utd are currently eighth in the Premier League and sacked Solskjaer as a result of their poor form.
The Manchester club could improve the squad when the window reopens in January, with a move for Milinkovic-Savic being rumoured – according to Corriere Della Sera – who claim United are ‘interested’ in the 26-year-old.
The Serbian could be an ideal replacement for Paul Pogba, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
Furthermore, his agent – former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman – hinted that Milinkovic-Savic could leave Lazio soon: “He is a great club player, soon the time will come for him to live a new adventure and new dreams,” he said.
His current deal at the Stadio Olimpico expires in 2024 and has been at the Serie A club since 2015.
The 26-year-old has made over 250 appearances and has contributed to over 90 goals for the Biancocelesti.
Rodgers has been touted as a replacement for Solskjaer at Old Trafford and has already spoken to the squad’s leadership group to ease any concerns they may have.
And Perez has now insisted there are no distractions which will harm their performance on Thursday against Legia Warsaw.
The forward said: “We are not even thinking about that possibility (Rodgers leaving). What he has shown us, he is totally focused on where we can improve.
“We are not thinking about anything else, not him either. We are really focused here.
“He is trying to make us think about the basics (to improve form). You have to try not to overthink and overdo things. We are sure the win is close. We know the importance of tomorrow and we are focused on that.”
