Man Utd flop finding suitors hard to come by as Everton drop out of race after Ten Hag snub

Manchester United loanee Wout Weghorst is reportedly not on the shortlist of strikers Everton want to bring in this summer, after Erik ten Hag told the forward he won’t be signing him.
Even as a stopgap after Cristiano Ronaldo left Old Trafford, United would have expected more from Weghorst. The Burnley forward failed to score a single Premier League goal in 17 games.
United ended up finishing third in the league, and while the nine-point gap to second-placed Arsenal would have been hard to close, more goals might have helped to do so.
Weghorst will be forced to look for a new employer this summer. Indeed, Football Insider reports Red Devils boss Ten Hag has told the forward to ‘find a new club’ as he won’t sign him.
The Dutchman has been linked with a move to Everton. Reports suggested manager Sean Dyche, who signed him at Burnley, was considering moving for Weghorst this summer.
However, it seems that’s no longer the case. Indeed, a subsequent report from Football Insider states the club are ‘not in the race’ for him, and while the Toffees ‘will be in the market for a new forward’ Weghorst is not on the shortlist.
His future is very much up in the air at the moment, with the report suggesting Burnley boss Vincent Kompany does not have the striker in his plans for when he returns to the club either.
With that being said, he’ll have to hope for a move elsewhere. However, after a poor stint at United, and suitors dropping out of the race, it might be difficult for the forward to find a Premier League side that wants to take him on board.
He impressed on loan at Besiktas in the first half of this season before being snapped up by United. As such, he’s shown he’s capable of having an impact, so he could attract some attention.
The Turkish Super Lig, though, is not at the same level as the one he moved to for the second half of the season. As such, he might well find himself stepping back down to a similar level if he is to find himself a new club.
