Norwich City are in advanced talks with Man Utd to sign a 20-year-old full-back, according to reports.

The Canaries have enjoyed an impressive transfer window as they look to remain in the Premier League past this season.

They’ve signed long-term Aston Villa target Milot Rashica, French midfielder Pierre Lees-Melou and centre-back Ben Gibson, among others.

They recently snapped up USA forward Josh Sargent from Werder Bremen for an undisclosed fee.

And it seems Norwich aren’t stopping there, as the Championship winners have entered advanced talks over the loan signing of Brandon Williams.

That’s according to Sky Sports, who say that Norwich are ‘hopeful’ of beating multiple other clubs to the signing.

Man Utd are willing to loan out the England U21 international this term so he can gain more experience.

However, a deal is unlikely to be finalised this week as negotiations are ongoing.

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can already rely on Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka on either side of defence.

Alex Telles will soon return from injury to provide backup for Shaw, while Diogo Dalot has seen his AC Milan move ruled out and will fight for a place at Old Trafford.

That leaves Williams lower down in the pecking order, which is why a Prem loan has been granted.

Southampton and Newcastle United have previously enquired over the defender, who can operate in both full-back roles.

But Man Utd were unwilling to let him leave in previous windows.

The player is a product of United’s famed academy. He was promoted to the first team in July 2019 and made his debut that September in a Carabao Cup clash against Rochdale.

Williams impressed during the 2019/20 campaign, picking up 39 appearances in all competitions.

However, he spent more time on the bench last term and was limited to just four top flight games.

Williams will compete with the likes of Max Aarons and Dimitrios Giannoulis for a starting spot at Carrow Road, should his loan move go ahead.

He isn’t the only United youngster to be linked with a summer exit.

Defensive midfielder James Garner is a target for Championship side Sheffield United.
