Man Utd man set for summer exit after ‘p*ssing off’ Ten Hag, despite transfer twist
Man Utd goalkeeper Dean Henderson is set to leave Old Trafford this summer despite the opportunity to replace David de Gea, according to reports,
The England international spent last season out on loan at Nottingham Forest with injury limiting him to 20 appearances in all competitions.
Henderson has had an uncomfortable few years at Man Utd with the goalkeeper temporarily usurping De Gea as number one in the 2020-21 season before the Spaniard reclaimed his position.
That frustrated Henderson, believing promises had been broken and he admitted that he didn’t even want Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag to watch him in training during the summer, as he knew the Dutchman would want to keep him.
“I didn’t really want the manager to see me in training because I knew he’d probably want to keep me,” Henderson told talkSPORT.
“I told all the hierarchy: ‘I need to go and play football. I don’t want to be playing second fiddle’.
“And it panned out so I was almost gone before the manager came in.”

Henderson could have a good chance to become number one at Old Trafford, if he returned this summer, with claims De Gea could leave this summer in a transfer twist after contract talks broke down.
And now the Manchester Evening News claims that Henderson is unlikely to be in line for a return to the Man Utd line-up after ‘p*ssing off’ Ten Hag.
The report says: ‘As for the incumbent ‘keepers, this week has to be David de Gea’s last full week on the United payroll. Sources suggest Dean Henderson has “p*ssed off” Ten Hag and there is next to no indication he is under consideration for a promotion to No.1 after an uneasy couple of years with his parent club.’
A more likely path for Henderson is a return to Nottingham Forest with rumours that the Premier League side could look to make his loan move permanent.
Ten Hag could be ‘p*ssed off’ with Henderson because of his refusal to return to Old Trafford mid-way through the season after Martin Dubravka returned to Newcastle.
Not long after joining Forest last summer, Henderson launched a rant towards Man Utd for wasting a year of his career after he turned down a number of loans to battle for the number one spot.
“The conversation I had, coming out of the Euros squad (with England), was that you’re coming back here to be the No1 goalkeeper,” Henderson added.
“I got Covid, then unfortunately no one followed through with anything they told me.
“I turned so many good loans down last summer for that reason and they wouldn’t let me go. To waste 12 months was criminal at my age. I was fuming. It was so frustrating.”
