Man Utd in ‘intense duel’ over €100m striker and Ten Hag makes ‘important offer’ for Liverpool target

Man Utd are reportedly involved in an ‘intense duel’ with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich over the signing of Randal Kolo Muani from Frankfurt.
The Red Devils enjoyed a successful season in 2022/23 under Erik ten Hag as they finished third in the Premier League and won the Carabao Cup.
But they are still way behind Man City and they will need to strengthen if they want to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
It is one of Ten Hag’s priorities to sign a new striker this summer and Kolo Muani is one potential signing. He grabbed 23 goals and 17 assists in his 46 appearances for Bundesliga side Frankfurt during the 2022/23 campaign.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Man Utd are ‘serious’ about signing the France international. Spanish outlet Fichajes are now claiming that United and Bayern Munich are ‘involved in an intense European duel for a transfer that could go over 100 million euros’.
Bayern Munich view him as the ‘perfect’ long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski and Frankfurt are ‘rubbing their hands together’ over a possible bidding war.
The report also points out that Juventus, Real Madrid and PSG have ‘appeared’ in the running for Kolo Muani of late.
Man Utd are looking to strengthen in various positions and Chelsea’s Mason Mount is among their preferred midfield targets.
Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella is also being heavily linked with a move to the Premier League. Newcastle United have moved for the Italy international but he is also reportedly being eyed by Liverpool.
FC Inter News (via Sport Witness) are now claiming Man Utd intend to ‘make a very important offer’ in an attempt to land Barella.
This comes after the midfielder ‘politely’ rejected a move to Newcastle but Man Utd are said to have been in contact with the player’s representatives over a potential move to Old Trafford.
It is claimed that an ‘indecent’ offer is required for Inter Milan to sell Barella this summer and it is suggested that a bid of €100m may be required to get him out of Serie A.

With regards to Mount, Dimitar Berbatov has explained why he would be a “good” signing for Man Utd if he completed his move from Chelsea.
“Ultimately, I believe Pochettino would like to keep Mason at Chelsea because he’s a good player,” Berbatov told Betfred.
“If not, then if Mason decides to join Manchester United, then I believe he would be a good option in their squad.
“People will say that Manchester United already have Bruno Fernandes in Mason’s position, but the season is a marathon and Manchester United will be competing in the Premier League, the Champions League and the other cup competitions, so you need a lot of quality in your squad if you’re going to compete on all fronts.”
